I lived in Hexthorpe, Doncaster for a while in 1969/70 and regret that I took few railway photos during that time. here are some of the few that I did take.
A cold day in January/February 1970
A pair of class 31's D5829 leading take the Sheffield line
with what looks like a rake of oil tanks.
A similar loco stans in the siding at the entrance to 'the Plant'
A two car dnu for Sheffield takes the same route.
A similar unit trundles through on the up slow.
Looking up the Sheffield line towards another '31' on a string of what appear to be loaded coal wagons.
Deltic D9005 Queen's Own Highlander draws to a stand with a King's Cross to Edinburgh train.
Deltic D9016 Gordon Highlander is about to leave with a train for Edinburgh as a similar loco approaches on the up fast with train 1E07 from Edinburgh to London King's Cross. This was the first time I photographed D9016, I came to look upon it as 'my' Deltic' as it seemed to turn up whenever I ventured onto the ECML.
Train 1A28 pulls away from a station stop and heads south behind a class 47
D5523 heading a train of empty coal wagons towards Sheffield.
And three shots at Manchester Victoria to finish the year..
'25' 7540 newly painted in blue livery is the duty banker.
'45' No 44 is on a Newcastle to liverpool Lime Street turn on platform 11 middle.
'40' No 286 has a liverpool to Newcastle train at platform 13. Still evidence of wartime bomb damage in the roof canopy.
