26th February.Green class '25' no.5284 held at signals on the climb to Copy Pit.
10th March. The 14.30 emu for Manchester leaves Bury (Bolton St.).
Sunday1st April. The 14.35 Blackburn to Manchester
Victoria at Agecroft Junction. Class 101 BRCW dmu.
12.00 16th April.Class '40' no. 241 climbing off the viaduct at Ribblehead with a northbound freight. 241 failed about two miles up the line and caused disruption for some time before being rescued by a class 25.
15.15, 16th April.Class 45 No 28 just passed the summit
at Ais Gill with the down 'Thames Clyde Express'
.4th July .'50' D409 at Balshaw Lane with a Blackpool
to london Euston train
The wires are energised although most services are diesel hauled.The junction between fast and slow lines is in place, the connection to the up slow has been severed.In the foreground the down slow is stiill in use.
12th July, 12.40. '50' D406 leaves Preston with a Glasgow to Manchester Victoria train.
8th August, 15.00 Two class 20s D8166 leading pass Edale in the hope Valley with an eastbound freight.
13th August, 11.21 A Blackburn to Manchester dmu crosses Entwistle viaduct over Wayho reservoir.
14th August, 13.35. a five car trans-Pennine unit crosses Saddleworth Viaduct. The train is the 12.57 Manchester Victoria to York.
15th August, 16.30. '40' D300 crosses Docker viaduct north of Lancaster with a train of empty newspaper vans for Manchester Victoria.
'50's 418 + 449 run down Grayrigg bank with the 13.55 Glasgow to London Euston. Although the electric overhead is in place full electric working did not start until May 1974.
Sunday 29th August. 14.15. Passing the site of Agecroft mpd by Brindle Heath Junction. the 14.00 Manchester Victoria to Blackpool formed of 2 three car BRCW units.
23rd September. 4472 Flying Scotsman in the bay platforms at the east end at Manchester Victoria
